Contentment During Change

Aghhhh Change. Love it or hate it Change happens to everyone,no one is exempt.
It happens everywhere. Change can happen at work, at home, even in your car driving to work [thanks to constant road works at the new Bunnings building] the road changes daily.
Change happens in our bodies, especially us girls, and especially us Mummas. And now as I’m finding out especially us ummm middle aged ladies.
Some changes are small and only take a slight adjustment but other changes are really hard and take some effort and time to adjust.
There’s a bible passage in Philippians and before you read it make sure you take notice where Paul says that he’s “learned”and that he’s learned the “secret” because these words are a key.

Philippians 4:11-13 NIV
[11] I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. [12] I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. [13] I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
LEARNING to be content during change is the key. It doesn’t just happen, it’s something we have to spend some time and effort learning how to be content whatever the changing circumstances we face.
The dictionary meaning of content is - In a state of peaceful happiness.
The secret that Paul is talking about is relying on Jesus and putting your worries and concerns into His safe hands and trusting Him during any change.
To live a life in a peaceful happiness whatever our changing circumstance sounds wonderful and I’m not where Paul is just yet. Paul writes that he’s learned how to be content no matter the circumstance. I’m still learning, I haven’t mastered contentment just yet. But I’m on the path to learning, I’ve made the commitment especially this year as I’m walking in a few changes. I want my life to be in a constant peaceful happiness and I have to daily choose this. To be honest I have to choose this several times in the one day.
But its so worth the commitment, I already notice the difference in my life.
Contentment is worth pursuing and so is Jesus. Pursue both and you will be walking on that steady peaceful happiness path.
