She Stands... United - Claire I’Anson

According to science (or the Internet, which of course makes it true, right?!), if you throw a frog into boiling water, it would jump out. I mean, wouldn’t you? However if you put a frog into cold water, and then slowly increase the heat, you could boil that frog and he’d never notice he was in hot water, until it was too late for him to do anything about.

Do you know that the devil does the exact same thing with us??? He obviously does it with many areas of our lives, but never more so I feel than our unity and relationships.

You know how it works - if you all of a sudden got a random thought - “everybody at church hates me, I don’t belong and I should just stop going”, you would absolutely be able to dismiss that as a ridiculous hell-sent thought. The devil is too clever for that.

What he’ll do instead is pop you on the slow-boil. He’ll start small - ‘I can’t believe you were home sick from church this week, and nobody called you to see how you were”, follow by - “did you see the way she was looking at you just then? She has a problem with you.”

Before you know it, anxiety, frustration, envy and dysfunction are burning you up and if you don’t turn off the heat, you’re going to boil. But how do you stop the thoughts before they get you hot under the collar??

Ephesians 4 tells us what to do -

"I want you to get out there and walk—better yet, run!—on the road God called you to travel. I don’t want any of you sitting around on your hands. I don’t want anyone strolling off, down some path that goes nowhere. And mark that you do this with humility and discipline—not in fits and starts, but steadily, pouring yourselves out for each other in acts of love, alert at noticing differences and quick at mending fences.

You were all called to travel on the same road and in the same direction, so stay together, both outwardly and inwardly. You have one Master, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who rules over all, works through all, and is present in all. Everything you are and think and do is permeated with Oneness.”

Leigh recently encouraged the Worship Team that we are absolutely here to support them if they have any concerns. But he implored them that before they came to us, they first take it to God. Because sometimes a momentary offence or minor issue can be easily resolved with a quick call to our mate Jesus!

Let’s be a sisterhood who give each other the benefit of the doubt - that God’s house is a safe place, and that we are all in this together to reach the hurt and lost in our world.

Don't boil the frog girls! Have a blessed week.
