She Stands in Truth - Claire I'Anson
2018 has been a bit of a battle so far. So when I was asked to write this blog, our last one before Saturday night’s “She Stands in Truth” event, I wondered how I’d even find the words.
God always knows exactly what we need though. And as I fought internally over this, He reminded me - “it’s not about you and your truth anyway, it’s about mine.”
So here are some of God’s words, His truths that have helped me navigate the battles of late. Some direct from His word and some through others. My prayer for you is that as you encounter your own obstacles, you’ll remember His truths, that you have a family here at Coastside that love you and are here for you, and that we are praying for you.
“When a train goes through a tunnel and it gets dark, you don’t throw away the ticket and jump off. You sit still and trust the engineer.”
- Corrie Ten Boom
My aunt posted this quote on Facebook around 5-10 minutes before collapsing and dying suddenly earlier this year. I am still in awe that in those final moments of her life, God was bringing comfort to her loved ones.
“What’s true in the light is still true in the dark. You’re good and you’re kind and you care for this heart.”
- Weep with me, The Rend Collective (video below).
I’ve listened to this song daily for the last few months, and rested in His Truth that God is with us in moments of darkness, even if we can’t see Him.
“If I were your enemy, I’d devalue your strength and magnify your insecurities until they dominate how you see yourself, disabling and disarming you from fighting back, from being free, from being who God has created you to be. I’d work hard to ensure that you never realize what God has given you do you’ll doubt the power of God within you.”
“Truth - God’s standard and viewpoint about us - must come first in our hearts and minds if we want to be effective in battle against the enemy. We need to put it in as our foundational garment and then reorient everything else around it.”
Fervent, Priscilla Shirer
Philippians 4:6 - Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.
John 14:27 - I’m leaving you well and whole. That’s my parting gift to you. Peace. I don’t leave you the way you’re used to being left—feeling abandoned, bereft. So don’t be upset. Don’t be distraught.
Isaiah 41:10 - Don’t panic. I’m with you. There’s no need to fear for I’m your God. I’ll give you strength. I’ll help you. I’ll hold you steady, keep a firm grip on you.
Psalm 94:19 - The minute I said, “I’m slipping, I’m falling,” your love, God, took hold and held me fast. When I was upset and beside myself, you calmed me down and cheered me up.
Psalm 34:4 - God met me more than halfway, He freed me from my anxious fears.
2 Corinthians 12:7-10 - Because of the extravagance of those revelations, and so I wouldn’t get a big head, I was given the gift of a handicap to keep me in constant touch with my limitations. Satan’s angel did his best to get me down; what he in fact did was push me to my knees. No danger then of walking around high and mighty! At first I didn’t think of it as a gift, and begged God to remove it. Three times I did that, and then he told me, My grace is enough; it’s all you need. My strength comes into its own in your weakness. Once I heard that, I was glad to let it happen. I quit focusing on the handicap and began appreciating the gift. It was a case of Christ’s strength moving in on my weakness. Now I take limitations in stride, and with good cheer, these limitations that cut me down to size—abuse, accidents, opposition, bad breaks. I just let Christ take over! And so the weaker I get, the stronger I become.
Philippians 4:13 - Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the One who makes me who I am.
Proverbs 3:5 - Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own.
Isaiah 26:3 - People with their minds set on you, you keep completely whole, steady on their feet, because they keep at it and don’t quit. Depend on God and keep at it because in the Lord God you have a sure thing.
Matthew 11:28-30 - Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
As we prepare for Saturday’s incredible event, I’m praying that God continues to reveal his truths to you. They’re so much bigger than the struggles or the lies that you might be facing.
