I have the privilege of discussing Marks fantastic preach on Sunday titled "Don't look back "

Mark used a bible verse which basically sums us humans up.

Genesis 19:15 -26

Its a verse about Lot and his wife running from Gods brimstone and fire he was raining down on Soddom and Gomorrah. They were both given specific instructions. "Don't look back " . .......

Now I don't know about you, but if I'm out and someone says "Don't look  behind you" my first response is to turn around and look !!!  I sooooo would be turned to salt a million times over . I'm glad that nothing that drastic happens now days, as I'm sure there would be a lot of piles of salt everywhere we go, it's a human response .

We might think "WOW! That was a bit harsh God. She only looked back  to see what was unfolding behind her."  But if God wanted her to see the destruction going on behind her she would've been privy to it.  She had one job.  Look forward and look to where she was  going.  A lot of us are like Lots wife.  We look back at the what was and what could've beens, instead of looking at the moment in front of us and the blessings that are being given to us.  We are very much like Lots wife, turning our heads back, while our body momentum is moving forward and hurting ourselves.

We're not in situations anymore because that wasn't the purpose and plan God had for our lives. If it was we would still be there . How do you know that, that place in your mind that you wish you could go back to was healthy for you?  It obviously wasn't because God closed that door and placed you through another. When a chapter in your life ends, close the book and keep it closed. You don't need to re read it.  You're missing out on another beautiful story, that might be so filled with glorious moments that you could only dream about.

God doesn't keep looking back on our past and remember them as the best times, no, he says , "keep going child, keep moving forward, for what I have planned for you",  not even your wildest dreams could conjure up what I have for you. The best is yet to come". God longs to see us grow, not stagnate. He longs to throw blessings at us. But if we look back and stagnate we can't be used in his kingdom. He needs us to look forward and up to see what he has planned next for our lives. He requires and deserves our full attention.

In Gods  presence there is life that never ends so why would you want to keep looking back ,when there is so much life ahead of us?

Jeremiah 29:11-14

I know what I'm doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.  "When you call on me, when you come and pray to me, I'll listen.  "When you come looking for me, you'll find me.  "Yes, when you get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else, I'll make sure you won't be disappointed." God's Decree.

Hope does not live in the past, because it's already done. There's NOTHING to hope for in the past. ONLY in the future

Onwards and upwards
